The Lord was very kind to us when we first arrived in Porto Alegre. We had very few options for renting, since we had no financial history in the country. This apartment, owned by the brother of a friend of a friend, has been a God-send.
The living room, dining room, and sitting room are all one big room, which gives us quite a bit of space to use for social occasions. It's been wonderful for Bible study, and this past weekend, it proved handy as Kimberly hosted a Ladies' Tea, organized by all the women of our church. Women from other churches or without a church came as well, with over twenty women attending and having a wonderful time.
I came by just as the party was getting started to take the boys out to the game store, so we could have a little dude time while the ladies did their thing. The party was already going strong at that point.
Everybody wanted Kimberly's lemon scone recipe.
Although Kimberly has had difficulty with the language barrier, it's been good to see these relationships blossom, and to see how much Kimberly can minister to these women. This is particularly true when speaking of childrearing and education. Please pray that Kimberly will always be able to speak with wisdom, discernment, and empathy to these ladies. And thank the Lord for them!
